THE GLASS MINSTREL (September 2010)
Christmas in mid-19th century Bavaria finds two grieving fathers coping with the loss of their sons, who were also lovers. Confused and angered by what they believe to be their boys’ betrayal, one withdraws from the people who love him, and the other lashes out. At the same time, a young boy, burdened with his own secret, falls in love with a traveling Englishman. All three struggle to reconcile their past with the present and future. Each hopes to understand his own heart. Each looks for solace in situations that none can control. And all are bound to each other by one unique glass ornament.

DESMOND AND GARRICK (BOOK ONE) (TBA)
The story takes place during the Regency (1815), just a few months after Napoleon’s defeat at Waterloo. It recounts the misadventures of Garrick Mortimer, scholar extraordinaire and an underemployed and starving genius, as he agrees to take up the unusual position of tutoring Desmond Hathaway, the youngest son of a vampire family living in Yorkshire. Desmond, who’s just suffered heartbreak caused by another boy’s callous treatment of him in school, rebels against Garrick’s attempts at educating him and does everything he could to chase Garrick away, which proves to be a greater challenge than he first believed. When his older brother returns from Italy for a visit, bringing with him a small group of talentless and self-absorbed poets, Desmond’s (and, by extension, Garrick’s) world turns upside-down when he meets Leigh Blaise Sherbourne, a vampire poet who seems to detest Desmond and also harbors secrets regarding his past. Throw into the mix a desperate mother’s plea for grandchildren, a family-owned torture chamber, a curious cottage-abbey-and-quarter-castle, and a grumpy family magician, Garrick finds that life in the Hathaway household is a great deal more than he bargained for.
Desmond and Garrick is a satire, a tongue-in-cheek jab at vampire romances as well as Regency romance clichés. Inspired by the rise of early 19th century Romanticism and the irreverent and gothic 20th century humor of The Addams Family, the series pokes fun at excessively handsome and brooding vampires, egotistical artists, and historical bodice ripper conventions.
